Dr. Kirk Walters
Hi, my name is Kirk Walters and I serve as the Senior Pastor at Canton Temple.
I grew up on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi in a pastor’s home. I never intended to be in ministry but pursued a career in business through my undergraduate studies and six years with a Fortune 500 company.
In 1996, I knew I was called into ministry and entered into full-time ministry soon afterwards. I have been married to Laura since 1993 and we have two great kids, Bradley and Lauren.
My favorite activities are golfing, reading, watching NCAA football and the NFL, and I even like to exercise.
My favorite scripture verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, to give you a future and a hope.”
Odd fact—I used to play drums, but not sure I could keep a beat now!
Laura Walters
Hi my name is Laura Walters and I serve as the Director of Women’s Ministries at Canton Temple.
I grew up in a Pastors’ home in Mississippi. Spending time with my Family, my husband Kirk and my son Bradley and daughter Lauren, is the most important other than God. We moved to Atlanta in February of 2006, two months later I found out I had breast cancer. God helped me through it and has healed my body and now I am cancer free. PRAISE GOD! It was a dark time in my life but God was right by my side. “The joy of the Lord was/is my strength.” Our God is awesome! We have traveled to some really awesome places. I have been to Romania, Hungary, Egypt, Scotland, South Africa, Netherlands, England and Russia. Traveling to different parts of the world has opened my eyes to see that God is so much bigger than I could ever imagine.
My favorite activities are singing, riding horses, working in the yard, shopping (but not grocery shopping) and sports.
My favorite candy bar is Reese’s peanut butter cups
My favorite color is hot pink.
Favorite scripture: The joy of the Lord is my strength Nehemiah 8:10
Odd fact- My brother is married to Kirk’s sister—it makes family holiday’s much easier to plan.
